Losa Berhane

Author Biography

Losa Berhane is an artist and poet committed to expressing the vulnerable depths and nuances of human experience through creative modalities such as writing, designing and teaching. With roots in both Tigray (East Africa) and Seattle, Losa’s inspiration for writing is to weave together spiritual wisdom and collective transformation. Poetry offered a healthy release when the grief felt too heavy to carry. The gift of writing was once a coping mechanism to the mental health challenges that lived beside them and is now a playground for dreaming and speaking Truth to Power. Losa hopes their writing lends an opportunity for readers—to exhale, to engage, to heal, and to co-create “active peace” centered in Black queer, femme, gender-diverse, and disability liberation. Losa’s writing has been featured in the DMV area-based magazine, The Vibe Room Issues 4 and 8. Losa is a member of Writing Black at The House, a writing and spoken word collective.
