Text
Every star’s been claimed for a wish,
but I’ll dive deep through galaxies,
rummage and hand press particles,
so by the time you open your eyes,
I’ll extend my heart glowing the way North.
I wanna high dive into your bloodstream,
and learn tap to the beat of your heart.
There’re butterflies caged behind my ribs,
and though they scare you,
I’ll hold gently their wings to the light
to prove even fear is fragile.
And when my chest cramps with restraint,
those three words pressed behind my teeth,
I’ll smile wider in your direction.
Our feet planted in soil with room to grow,
intertwining trust like roots--
we’ve no need for escape routes mapped.
I don’t need you to love me yet.
I’ll gladly remove the hands of time,
until you feel our worlds spin slowly.
I’ll hold you up when life has you dizzy.
