you open the front door
invite us in
under the presumption we'll feed &
pet the kitties,
take care of the place.
a boyish girl and a girly boy
you presume, nobody leaves the
keys to the mansion, the rolls royce,
the wine cellar to a couple trans folks,
after all.
as soon as you're out the door
we're already
jumping on the bed
eating your ice cream,
sheer shrieking joy.
(we leave the bed exactly
how we found it).
if you find yourself underwater
in the pitch black, and
out of breath,
follow the
bubbles from your screams
to the surface.
of course we feed & pet the cats
cuddle them amid piles of champagne
glasses dom perignon
they see this life for what it
is, a shiny cage.
if you find yourself
underwater in the pitch black
calmly make your way to the
nearest exit
and take a deep breath.
orange flecks glimmer
crystal chandelier up all night
talking about queer utopia
listening to the radio in your car/
feet up on the dash
the stars aren't brighter here inside
this crystal cage, just more fluorescent glow.
leave us the keys to the crystal cage & the kitties
please
leave us one night in the champagne palace
please
leave us.
