Text
I love you.
But not love like fiery orange heat and bruise-purple kisses
Not love like red roses and glittering gold
Not love like pink cheeks and sunshine butterflies.
I’ve never felt red love, swirled with pink and yellow.
My love is green.
Green like your loud laugh over mine
Green like hiking through dark pines
Green like lying together in the grass
There are other colors too
Peach as we run side by side
Gray for slogging through wet winters
Crimson flickers of short-winded fights
Limp blue singing the need of some time alone
Whole galaxies that make up the worlds we build
But it’s all wrapped up in green.
The red love holds its own rainbow deep inside, I’m sure
I see parts of it peeking through sometimes
But fulling grasping the red love is unfathomable to me
My love is green, and that will have to be enough.
