My reflection is of myself.

I am created in my own image,

We all share a part of God’s power.

I used to be a star.

My cells change with testosterone,

And they will return to the Earth.

I will always be here.

My soul will travel from body to body,

Life to life.

I’ll fall in love with some of the same people.

Nothing really matters,

Except the experience of this body.

I dream of running away sometimes.

I deserve to be playful,

With the time I have left.

My only responsibility,

Is giving myself the life I want.

I would leave the country,

Leaving a note for just a few people.

Nobody there would know what I used to be.

I want to sit with a stranger,

With glasses of wine and cigarettes,

Maybe on a balcony,

With the moon overhead,

Wet cobblestone shimmering below.

I would just be a man.

To everyone else at the party inside,

I am just a man.

It would be lonely,

But I know then I’d enjoy the smell of the rain,

And my heartbeat will feel like mine.
