El Kravit-Smith

The poets name is El. She is a queer, Indigenous Guatemalan woman. She was adopted when she was three months old by two women who she is proud to call her family. She started writing poetry in remembrance of her family back home in Guatemala when she visited for the second time. She also writes poetry as a way to connect with lost parts of herself since she has spent her whole life feeling stuck between two worlds, and this is a way to explore all that it encases.
