Seasonal Tastes

Text

I wonder what she tastes like

In the summer

When the berries are ripe

Is she as sweet as honeysuckle

Growing on the vine

I wonder what she tastes like

In the fall

Pumpkin spice and butternut squash soup

Poppy seeds under her fingernails

From baking something sweet

I wonder what she tastes like

At the holidays

Vegan egg nog and chocolate mint pudding

Powdered sugar on her nose

Chocolate dripped on to her toes

I wonder what she tastes like

In the spring

Fresh salad shoots and herbs

Crisp and clean like morning dew

Cleaver and dirt stuck to her cheek

I wonder what she tastes like

On a Wednesday afternoon

Relaxing with a beautiful cup of tea

Violets floating on top

Munching on a celery stick

I wonder what she tastes like

As I go to bed

With myself alone again

Lavender and rose under my pillow

Dreaming of summer in every season
