There is inherent friction in developing a vocabulary to organize and impose structure upon an anthology like this. Our very nature resists easy categorization, our very presence reminds others what can lie beyond a simple binary, and we are, oddly enough, united by our multiplicity of experience. We use, and have used, so many words across space and time to describe ourselves, and each of us can potentially use the same words to mean something different. This project aimed to create a coherent language to index nearly 450 poems from around 300 authors in order for readers to browse the anthology, search the tags, filter content warnings, and find what they're looking for.
Both poems and authors have a page. Poem pages are where you can read the poem itself; at the end of each poem is a link to the author page. Author pages have the poem author's biography as well as a list of links to all their poems in the anthology.
- All poems in the anthology are in this collection.
- All contributing authors are in this collection.
Identity tags: We chose to center authors rather than poems in our tags, so each item in the Anthology comes with tags that describe the author's identity, life experiences, and other important information about themselves. To search for authors and their poems by tag, browse the tag index.
Content notices are a way to identify items that may be triggering or upsetting to certain people. In this anthology, content warnings are applied to certain poems so that readers can choose what they do and do not want to see. If you would like to omit certain kinds of content, the content notice page allows you to filter the anthology by potentially triggering topics.
